Muhlenberg Brain Camp 2011

Does anyone know anything about this program? I am a rising high school senior with intent to major in behavioral neuroscience. This camp sounds like it would be a good fit for me (while I'd love to go to more presitigious programs, money is an issue, and this camp is free. I don't know if I'd be able to get into the prestigious programs anyway..) but all the information I can find is from last year. Is it still going to happen this year? Or am I just paranoid? Has anyone participated in this program before? Opinions?

I hope this isn’t too late, but I attended brain camp last summer (there are usually only around 15 people each summer) and I thought it was a great experience. We had different classes in the morning on different aspects of the brain (brain development, sensation/perception, etc…) and then were divided into research groups in the afternoon. My group researched the effects of different styles of music on the male and female brain by recording and measuring alpha and beta waves. While we couldn’t go that in-depth on teh experiment because we were only there for a week, I thought that it wa a valuable experience and it only solidified my decision to major in neuroscience (I’ll be a college freshman majoring in neuroscience this fall). Plus, it looks great on a resume if you’re hoping to do research in college because then you already have neuroscience research experience. I think you should go for it. :)

If you have any questions, let me know.

@maizeandblue15:
I plan on applying this year - do you have any idea how selective the process is/how many students applied last year?

I also went to brain camp last year and would basically second everything maizeandblue15 said. Apps went on the website late last year.

I think last year 50 people applied for 20 spots. Preference is given to rising seniors and people who are outside of PA, NY, and NJ from what I heard from their sponsors.

Received my acceptance by email today.
Unfortunately I am unable to attend as I have an internship that ends that week, so if any of you are on the waitlist - hopefully you’ll get my spot!

My daughter applied to Brain camp for the this summer 2012! When do we hear if she was accepted? I don’t want to call and ask and be one of those pushy parents, but it is getting really late and she has some other job opportunities that she will take if she does not get into Brain camp. Anyone know about this? It’s already the middle of May! The website does not give much info either…help!

elise303,
The email was sent out today regarding acceptances and the letter should arrive soon. I got accepted! And I hope your daughter did as well:)

Pulsar 2014,

Just googled Muhlenberg Brain camp, and found this site. My son was accepted to Brain camp this summer (2012) at Muhlenberg. We live in Bergen County NJ and you? See you there. He is really looking forward to it!

I was accepted to brain camp this summer too! Has anyone received their information in the mail yet, or is the mail just slow in Missouri?

Got my stuff today! I live in Maryland for anyone wondering…

Sent from my SGH-T959V using CC

I am so excited for this camp. Anyone from Massachusetts attending?

Got accepted! Any other New Yorkers going? And just wondering, but how many people usually get accepted or attend this camp?
