Hi, I was recently accepted into Muhlenberg. I am planning for major in theater and minor/double major in English with a focus on creative writing. I applied ED and am now having second thoughts. I know that there are 300 people involved in the theater program and I am wondering if it is extremely competitive and difficult to be cast. I am now wishing that I had applied to Sarah Lawrence and Vasaar. If you go to 'berg-what are the pros and cons?
I think I understand your anxiety but please remind yourself that you decided to apply ED for a reason. You felt like this was the right fit, and they, obviously thought so too. There and numerous ways to be involved in the theater program at Muhlenberg and it is competitive, but it isn’t cut throat. You won’t be cast for every production and you may have to earn your way into some roles and you may end up missing out on some roles that you really want. That is reality. That is real life. You have been accepted in a great program at a great school. Embrace it. Embrace all of it. Celebrate the successes you and your new friends will have and commiserate with them through the tough times. You will find your niche, you will learn and grow and get a great education. Best of luck to you!
I think second thoughts are fairly common. It’s a great program. Consider going to one of their accepted students days soon. You’ll reconnect with all the positives that drew you to Muhlenberg in the first place.
