rooming with a friend from high school would be nice but if you room with somebody else then you can always hang out at your friend's place and vice versa you know? plus you get to meet NEW people and make NEW friends.

was ucsd and/or muir your first choice? they were for me =)

I got into Muir, which was definitely my first choice out of all the UCSD colleges.

Not sure I'll end up at SD, but very excited about the acceptance. :D

muir was my first choice... except i kind of put it randomly, but now that i know more about it i am happy i got it! =] not sure if i'll end up at ucla or ucsd though. we'll see

Muir represent!!

muir is the popular one...
if you didnt put muir as your first choice you probably didnt get into muir

GO MUIR! =)
man you guys are going to have fun times when you start school!
even im excited for you guys!!

well muir might be popular but this year warren had the biggest number of incoming freshmen. =P

hey do you guys know anything about muirs dorm
or social life?

Look at the virtual tours of the different buildings. Btw do upper class men get priority when it comes to housing? I really want an apartment instead of a suite.

hey is it okay if I got into muir as a premed/bioengineering?
you guys said premed is for revelle... now I'm kinda worried.. =/

it doesn't matter. all thats different is the ge's. you can major in anything you want.

I am currently a first year at Muir, what do you want to know? (Besides the ridiculously easy GEs in comparison to the other colleges)

what makes muir so good compared to other colleges other than ge's.....or is that the only thing thats different???

it also has a really good location on campus

why muir is cool:
-ge's. you can easily pass out of a bunch of them from ap, compared to other colleges which may require you to take upper div classes for GEs. i think only 15-16 GEs are required for muir but i came in only needing to complete 6 or 7 of them.
-dining hall is pretty good, some late-night options. the food all turns the same after a while though, but luckily you're close to some good options.
-central location. you can get anywhere you want in 5-10 min, with the exception of warren and erc which are 10-15
-beach. it's closest to muir. 'nuff said.
-good reshall setup. you'll see it when you get there but the way it's arranged, it's impossible to not meet at least 40 people in the first week from just your floor.
-most of the big lecture halls are close to muir/in muir (i guess this goes with the central location thing). hss for your discussions/music/philosophy/language/writing classes, peterson and york for everything else

sounds good thx for the indepth overview

oh yea. this question is more of a general question but do you think triples are worth the save in money? i keep hearing bad things about triples but the cut in cost sounds appealing...

and i was wondering if muir remodeled
because i heard the dorms use to be really crappy?

dorms are much, much nicer. new carpeting, new lighting, new furniture...everything! you can barely tell it was built 40 years ago (except maybe the exterior...)

I'm a freshman in ERC and I love it, but I'll concede Muir is probably the best and most popular college on campus. Central location, one of the better cafeterias, easy GE's, one of the best college setups (although I think ERC is the best in that area), and closest to the beach. UCSD's reputation is definitely heavy on the science and engineering, but Muir and ERC are the two colleges that definitely go against the trend with their many humanities/social sciences/artsy majors, whom I find to be funner and more inclined to party. That's just my opinion though.
