I’m involved in some programs where I’ve earned multiple state-level awards different years of high school.
I’m getting close to having 5 honors/awards already and would prefer to prioritize national awards over more state awards. I feel like I might be cutting myself short if I only included one of the state awards though.
Say my honors section looks like this (theoretical):
- National Award (2018)
- National Award (2018)
- National Award (2019)
- Type A State Level Award x3 (2017, 2018, 2019)
- Type B State Level Award x2 (2018, 2019)
Am I able to put it in this format? I know you’re supposed to enter a ‘year earned’ date for each award, which confuses me a bit.
Yes, subject to the character limit for the box.
The Common App does not ask for dates on awards or activities; it asks for “Participation grade levels.”
That’s interesting thanks. So generally you think it’s acceptable to try this?
Fair enough, but looking at my example “Type A State Level Award x3,” how could I designate just 1 participation grade level if it spans over 3 years/3 grades.
Thank you!
Yes
The grade level is a check box, so you can select multiple grades. You can list your award as you have, except that I would not say “x3” since that is obvious by the dates; I would list it as: “Type A State Level Award (2017, 2018, 2019)”
@skieurope
Awesome, I’ve never been into the common app portal so I wasn’t sure how this worked.
Thanks again!
My daughter combined a lot of stuff to make room for everything. Easily accomplished!
