Common App Honors

Hi! I have a few questions about the honors section.

1) If I have two AP Scholar Awards from 2 different years, should I list them as different honors? If not, how should they be listed?
2) Should I include qualifications as honors (i.e. I qualified to Math Prize for Girls and AIME, but was not awarded anything)? Should these just be listed as activities?
3) If I won a foreign language award that is only part of my school's foreign language department, should I put that down?

Thanks!

1) That depends on how much room you have. You are limited to 5 honors. If you feel it would look better separate and you haven’t filled in 5 honors, list them separately. If it would take up the room that could be used for another Honor, go ahead and list them together.
2)“It was an honor just to be nominated.” Don’t we hear that all the time during the Oscar’s and the Emmy’s? If you feel like it would look good, go ahead and put it down. Just remember that you only have room for 5 Honors.
3) An Honor is an Honor. If you don’t have anything better, go ahead and use it! Make sure you select the “School” check mark. I know that I have 3 of my Honors listed as “School.” I haven’t won anything too special, just some “Outstanding Student” and “Dean’s List” awards. But hey, not all of us have had the opportunity to cure cancer at the age of 17.

Thanks! :3

No problem!

If you went from one level to another for AP, then you may be wasting space listing them both.

You should find something to add that might be more meaningful instead.
