Hi. I'm planning on majoring in flute performance, and I was wondering how good the music program at Dartmouth is?

Not that great. If you’re serious about flute, you should be looking at Curtis, Julliard, NEC, IU Jacobs, Eastman, CIM, Rice, CCM, etc.

If you want a mix of academics + music, go for Rice, U of Rochester + Eastman, or the Columbia + Julliard joint program.

Oh. Do you go to Dartmouth? I’ve heard the music program is good. I’m looking for a mix of flute and academics. Julliard is to intense for me. I may try Rice…

I can’t believe I used the wrong form of to. But anyway, I haven’t heard much from this thread, and that’s probably not a good thing. I guess I’ll contact the music dept at dartmouth.

If you’re interested in talking directly to some current students in the music department send me a personal message and I’ll give you some contact info. Also, you should consider the marching band! We’re always looking for new talent :)

I was just reading this, and I’m curious, are there any like clubs for guitar players and things like that on campus? Like besides the concert band and things you need to try out for, because I haven’t really heard much about it
