Hi-

I have less than a week to decide, and right now, one of the main things that bothers me about Wesleyan is its music program (not ethnomusicology--I need info about everything else in the department). I have other options with better music programs, but I really like Wesleyan, the east coast, CSS, the size, etc. Is there anyone here who can comment on Wesleyan's music program, paying special attention to music composition if possible?

Thanks!

check out that site, it should give you a bunch of info. wes has a great music department, and my music major friends are extremely satisfied with their professors and opportunities. there's particularly a lot in terms of experimental composition (thanks to alvin lucier), and jazz (anthony braxton, jay hoggard), but classical is here too.

CSS is a really unique thing about wesleyan, and if you're interested, i would say that maybe that's a sign that wesleyan-- as opposed to a school with perhaps a music program more to your liking but less in the way of other academic disciplines-- might be right for you.

^ Thanks - The other two schools I'm deciding between are Berkeley and Vanderbilt.
