Music Business Degree necessary?

Hey I am currently a management major and I want to switch to music business at my school in the fall because I have a great passion for the music industry. The only problem is that I have to audition for the major and the music courses are $250 per credit hour. I play the guitar but I usually don't play the type of stuff that they want me to auction for (Classical, Renaissance music). If I don't get the audition, then I will probably minor in communications. I just wonder, do you really need to be a music business major to have any jobs in the music industry? I really love music and I do not want to make a terrible mistake of picking the wrong major when I graduate.

I personally think that internships are more valuable. I don’t think musicians need to do business, or business students need to do music, in order to work in that industry. But you may need some experience or connections in order to get a paid position, and an unpaid internship or two may be very helpful in that regard.
