Music Composition Major wondering about Ivies and the GRE. . .

Hello,

I am a music composition major looking to apply to graduate school this fall. Most places I've looked at, particularly the conservatories, don't see to care about the GRE in slightest. However, I'm also interested in applying to Yale, Princeton and Harvard. Is it safe to assume that (because of statistics, rankings, etc.) the GRE is more strongly emphasized at the Ivies? If so, what should I be aiming for? 1500+?

Thanks.

Your portfolio of creative work, as well as how you will fit in with the faculty and community, will be of the utmost importance for the committee.

A low GRE and GPA will keep you out. GPA under 3.7 and GREs under 1300 are probably not very competitive. However, a good GPA and GRE will not get you in.
