Can someone compile every addition since the beginning into one list please?

^Are you volunteering?

If your child is a bassist, I highly recommend Peabody BassWorks summer program. It is open to bassists from elementary school through early college and they place the students into groups by ability. The bass faculty all participate in the program, and it was great for my son because he didn’t have much exposure to other kids his age who were really good bassists. Bass students tend to get left out in orchestral programs and having an entire week just focused on bass technique and professional development has been great for him. The Peabody faculty are all great and very caring. It is usually the last week of July.

Here’s a New Music Festival I didn’t know about - lots of great performers and composers on staff. Ages 18-35 in Vermont in June. http://newmusiconthepoint.com/ Looks like the deadline just passed, but they may be accepting late applications.

I had asked about strings programs in Europe few months ago. My son is now at Prussia Cove Music Festival in the southern England. The timing of the first session of the festival coincided with his spring break at NEC. After a long trip first flying to London and then to Penzance by train, he is in his second day of the festival, and is very happy he is part of it. He says the best part of the festival is all the lessons are in the form of Master classes where any student of any instrument can sit in and watch. The Prussia cove is absolutely beautiful and peaceful while music played and taught are at the highest caliber.

I’ve heard that Prussia Cove is amazing!

Any festivals on or near the gulf coast? Since we moved here, to my dismay there isn’t much music wise for my son to participate in while home from college.

Sarasota?

I will look up their repetoire. I think Sarasota was out since he didn’t have prepared what they wanted. I will check.

Just want to share which summer camps/festivals my violinist son has been to. Let me know if anyone’s interested in learning about his experiences at these places:

  1. Lamont School of Music, University of Denver (at age 11 on merit scholarship)
  2. IU Summer String Academy (at age 12 on merit scholarship):
  3. Heifetz International Music Institute (at age 14 - they only offered need based scholarship):
  4. Honor Orchestra of America (age 17)

He’s been accepted to Aspen at age 16 but ended up turning it down due to financial constraints (our money went to his summer concert tour of several cities in Japan with his youth symphony). He also had serious doubts about sitting hours and hours in the orchestra rehearsals!

He’s also been accepted to Interlochen with partial merit scholarship. He wasn’t considered for full scholarship because he applied two weeks past the deadline. He ended up turning it down in order to spend our money on his summer concert tour of Europe with his youth symphony.

Any updates for Summer 2017?

My son is heading back to Prussia Cove this April. Interesting thing is he has applied to work with Steven Izzerlis, a cellist, and was accepted to his studio as a violinist.

For the summer, he is going to Perlman Chmaber Music Workshop and Yellow Barn. he is still waiting to hear from a music festival in Poland. It looks like a packed summer again.

My daughter will be at the PMP chamber workshop, too! My daughter keeps forgetting the deadline for Prussia Cove…maybe next year. That’s really cool about Isserlis. After PMP she’s going to Ravinia, and then a small camp where she teaches. Always a packed summer, but busy is good!

D will be attending SongFest in LA.

My S will be at the PMP chamber workshop, too! He will spend two and half weeks with Octave’s S and glassharmonica’s D, this summer. I wonder how many people are attending CMW?

Just saw a post about a new chamber orchestra summer program from ArtsBridge, which will be held at the Colburn School in LA. It is for high school performers, and will be both New Music and classic repertoire - with members of ICE in residence: https://artsbridge.com/summer-programs/chamber-orchestra/

“Invited participants will embark on a very unique journey as this is a chamber orchestra program with a contemporary twist. Our repertoire will include both Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony #3 in A minor (“Scottish”) and Terry Riley’s pioneering minimalist work, In C. Our work on these two orchestral pieces over the course of two weeks will be made even more thrilling in that students will work and learn alongside some of the greatest performing artists in the country. Members of the International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) will be in residence during both weeks to work with us in rehearsals, sectionals, masterclasses, and workshops.”

They’re also offering an ArtSong program in Minneapolis.
