MUSIC! NYU Steinhardt or Carnegie Mellon for Bassoon Performance?

Hello,

I’m new here, so hopefully I’m posting this in the right boards. I am a current high school senior looking to major in bassoon performance. My decision is down to either CMU or NYU (accepted into both). I’m having trouble finding information on the music programs for these schools, so I’ll take all the information possible.

I have a few questions:

Which school, in general, would you say has a better music performance program? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the schools, both music-related and otherwise? In which one is a classical musician most likely to succeed? Which school/city has the best real-world opportunities for its students?

Since NYU has multiple teachers, I can’t really compare the schools based on the professor I work with better.

Thank you!

Both are excellent and well known. Choose the least expensive one.

Yep! I’ve heard great things about both schools and I’m happy that I got into them. I do still want to know more about the schools’ programs before I commit the next few years of my life to one of them, though.
