<p>I was just wondering what people's experiences were with Steinhardt's School of Music at NYU. I just auditioned on the violin for a music performance major, and got the vibe that the school of music wasn't as rigorous as some other universities. Is the school of music really competitive? What is the average musician like? Are there a lot of aspiring professional musicians? I'd love to be part of a more high-powered classical training program. Thanks!</p>
<p>i auditioned last week and got the same feeling. however, i know the string faculty should be great. i don’t know any of them personally, but fulkerson also teaches at oberlin and i heard he is a wonderful teacher. i didn’t get to hear the students perform so i couldn’t really tell the level of their music program.</p>
