Glad it worked out! My S just bought a new horn (well, a used horn! Bought it from his teacher, who bought it from Myron Bloom - it is the horn Mr. Bloom used when he was with Philadelphia O. We are all very excited about this horn! I can't wait to hear it.) Anyway, teacher gave S an old flight case with the horn, smaller than his other flight case, and it is a relief to know that we won't have to worry about it as a carry-on! All S's horns (this is his third) have been cut bell, which definitely makes it easier. Something to keep in mind when it's time for your S to replace the horn.

We have not had to fly - we seem to drive everywhere and as we prepare for auditions in the upcoming year I think we will do the same. -- my son is a jazz drummer and believe it or not, you are expected to bring you entire drumset with you to camps, gigs, auditions, .... The one time we considered flying we looked into shipping the drums -- actually Eastman was very helpful in how to get the drums there and told us what was needed via UPS but we decided to drive the distance instead. As long as he stays on the east coast I think we will be fine - if he decides to go out west we may have a problem.

Thanks for all of the helpful info. Anyone in the jazz programs at Miami, Purchase, or the New School? Looking for more info on those.
