Music schools in Texas

Hi i was wondering... of these two schools, which has a better piano department?

Southern Methodist University

Texas Christian University

thanks!

check out Rice. I think it is affiliated somehow with Shephard School of Music.

I responded to your other posting of this elsewhere....Check out the Shephard School which IS Rice's music conservatory program. Also, U of North Texas has a great music program...don't know about piano though. SMU is good but probably not as well regarded as the Rice or UNT.

I second U of North Texas. Norah Jones attended UNT for a while.

TCU is not nearly as well known for music in general as SMU, but the piano department is well regarded and I think has connections with the Cliburn Foundation.

I'd have to 3rd the University of North Texas. Simply the best music program in Texas, bar none. Although most famous for its second-to-none Jazz Studies program, it is also top notch in Education and Performance.

I wouldn't put UNT above Rice, but otherwise, agreed.

For most music degrees, yeah, I'd agree that Rice is a little over UNT. UNT being a public school.

In Jazz though, its consistantly rated the best in the nation and possibly the world.
