Hello,
I am a rising senior and I am just narrowing down the list of where I’ll be auditioning. The ones I know I’m auditioning for are: NYU (Tisch), Emerson, University of Michigan, and UCLA. I want a school with good training but I also am a little nervous about being accepted into these programs. I know Ithaca accepts a really small amount of people every year. Should I even bother?

Ithaca is no more selective that the other schools you have listed. If you like the program it is worth auditioning. However, you will want to add at least one non-auditioned academic and financial safety to your list unless you would rather take a gap year if not admitted to one of the selective programs. For pros and cons of a gap year search the main forum, it has been discussed at length. You also will find information on non-auditioned safety schools if you search the main forum.

This year’s class will be 24 – larger than in recent years.
