Musical Theatre- Comparing Top Choices

@CarsonPeas - sorry, thought of another question about University of Utah Musical Theatre BFA. Just validating that there are approximately 26 students in each BFA Year and if not, what is the typical number per year, understanding there is fluctuation of people coming and going with transfers? Trying to compare apples to apples.

@Ontheverge @MAmum1234 Not sure if you heard, but there was an earthquake in SLC today and power is out to many. Not sure if @CarsonPeas is still in SLC (but guessing so since he has an apartment?) but it may possibly take him awhile to answer back  Hopefully, all is well! I think Corona has topped most of the news today but I did see a thread about the earthquake.

@“K&Tmom” - @MAmum1234 Hope this tag helps put you together!

@onette Thank you! and @CarsonPeas hope all is well with you! Earthquakes can definitely be disruptive…like we need more disruption right now?

@MAmum1234 Hello! Yes, I’m also struggling to send messages on here. Feel free to reach out via E-Mail! Mine is thecqp@gmail.com

@Ontheverge There are about 26 in each year! As time goes on, you definitely notice classes getting smaller, but we typically begin with 26-28 in each class! There are about that many in our current Sophomore and Junior classes, and our Senior class is a bit smaller!

@onette Thankfully, I am back home in Michigan now and didn’t get to experience the earthquake earlier today. However, from what I’ve heard from my friends/classmates out in SLC, everything is all good now and everyone is safe! Thank you!

@CarsonPeas That’s good!!! It got passed over in the news but from the pics on CNN, it looked pretty serious!! Plus the electricity being out!! Glad you’re safely home!

Any insight on Syracuse MT? My D accepted to MT program. She is a strong, classically trained singer. Decent Shakespeare experience, just a teeny bit of dance experience. Wondering about this school’s fit for her. And I understand the Director of the program will be on Sabbatical this year. She is leaning towards this school Bc of it bring in NY (albeit not NYC) and it’s relationship to Syracuse Stage. Any first hand comments about this program? Also, Life after the program?

Roosevelt MT vs Molloy/CAP21 MT?

@frisbee3 No commute at Roosevelt like there is at Molloy. The freshman dorm has an interior connection to the main classroom building, which is also where the rehearsal and performing spaces are located. The dance studios are in a secondary building, two blocks north of the dorm. There is a dance studio inside the dorm’s gym for student use. A wide variety of stores, including Target, are within a short walk. Chicago trains and buses are also right there. In terms of an urban school, Roosevelt has a prime location!

My D did not apply to Molloy, so I can’t offer you any program comparisons.

@2kids2dogs&aclass @secondtimemt @minnmtmom @AbigCurveBall @Crazy2024BFAMom @Abutilon

^Sorry, I meant to tag you folks on post #170!

My D is choosing between these 2 schools as well (plus 2 wait lists). I really wish we knew about the wait list because I think her best fit may be one of those. Oh well, a visit to each would have made a huge difference. Oh well. Thank you @upstaged for your insights on CCPA.

My D is on the waitlist for Rider so it isn’t an option yet. It does sound like a good program.

Since I wrote this my D has been accepted to Molloy (no longer on wait list). Woot woot!

@upstaged Could you elaborate on the CCPA freshman curriculum that helps build community for the class? I’d like to hear more about that aspect. Also do they have a senior showcase that goes to NYC?

University of Oklahoma versus University of Arizona? Both are big sporty schools with conservatory style training. Does anyone have any insight on comparing the two?

@Crazy2024BFAMom If you don’t mind, was your D on waitlist or priority waitlist? Thank you and congratulations!!

Trying to figure out when Molloy/CAP21 is moving to regular waitlist… and when all priority waitlist offers are done. Any info would be helpful!

@Alisa we are also considering Syracuse- it’s my sons first choice due to reputation. I just do not know if the high cost is worth it. Is the training or opportunity much better compared to his other choices (Hartt or Arizona)? It is terrible not being able to visit campus to see what would be a good fit.
If anyone has any knowledge or opinion
on the matter please let us know! So agonizing trying to make a choice site unseen. :frowning: We are on the west coast and can’t even do a “drive by” of campus lol.
