I want to be in the musical theatre business, and hope to have a Theatre BA with a musical theatre minor or just a musical theatre major. I might want to major in business or communications, but I want to have a top 10 list complied. In would even be willing to have a theatre BA as a last choice. I am considering a few schools now, My top is Marymount Manhattan, followed by PACE, AMDA and NYU. Thanks!

You might want to look at Ohio Northern. When my D auditioned there this year (sadly, not accepted) the director talked about how many students double major. Communications was one area she specifically mentioned that several students choose as a second major along with their BFA MT.

Thanks, I’ll consider. I do live awfully close to ohio

if you have great academic stats, you may also want to investigate Northwestern University near Chicago. It has a very strong MT program, and the Theatre program is housed in the school of Communications. Many students at NU complete double majors in 4 years.

When you say the business of MT, what aspect are you referring to? Producing? Stage Management? Marketing? You may want to look at schools with Arts Management degree programs. Make sure they are related to performing arts, not just fine arts. In looking at MT schools, I was very impressed with Arts Management programs at Hartt, Columbia College, and Rider. They all have strong MT departments so you would have the opportunity to become involved in the management aspect right away.

California State University, Northridge – BA Theatre, MT Minor and you could likely do Business as well. Suburb of Los Angeles, located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley. Lots of entertainment industry connections.
