There is literally no way I will be eligible for any financial aid; must I still go through the process of applying for it? I did the
CSS profile already and will do the FASFA, but since I know I won't be getting anything, can I simply skip the other pieces? For instance, Reed says "File student & parent 2014 federal tax forms & W-2s & Verification Worksheet with IDOC", but I would like to skip this stuff if its only required for those that want aid. TLDR: is it mandatory to apply for financial aid?

If you and/or your parents can and will pay all your expenses then you don’t need to apply for financial aid.

If you want to take out a Student loan, then you must fill out the FAFSA.

If you are seeking merit scholarships, check on the application process at each of the colleges. Some of these require a separate application in addition to your application for admission.

You don’t have to apply for FA.

do you think Bill Gates’ kids applied for FA when they went to college? lol

Yeah see your assuming that it isn’t required for admission… If it’s required for admission then they would have. I just wanted to make sure that applying for FA wasn’t an admission requirement, as that would really suck If I had assumed it wasn’t and it was. Thanks for the reply LVKris, it seems I’m in the clear.

There isn’t a school out there that requires students to apply for FA in order to get admitted. No school would be that stupid to make such a req’t. Wealthy people’s finances are too complicated and no way would they want to: A) waste time filling forms out just to get NOTHING; and B) they don’t want schools to see their financial situations.

It’s not the school’s business to know your finances if you’re not applying for aid.

<<
If it’s required for admission then they [the Gates family] would have.

Nah…Bill would have just bought the univ and told them what idiots they were.
