My Application Status

i'm getting a little frantic. i'm a student who applied to Cornell in December and has been checking my application status since then. i noticed when i first checked it that one of my teacher's recommendations is missing. however, b/c the website said "allow two weeks for all material to be entered into the system", i did not call the admissions office. after two weeks passed, i checked the status website again and this time found a note that said "we have a large number of applicants and are not taking any phone call or emails at this time" (paraphrase). i didn't know what to do then except for repeatedly check the website until it works again. well today, when i logged on again, i found the note is finally gone, yet my teacher's rec is STILL marked as unreceived. could it be the info is still not in the system? if my application is not complete, that would also explain why i haven't been contacted for an interview. i'm going to call the admission office tomorrow first thing in the morning. right now i just feel really worried :(

I am in the exact same boat as you...Both my teachers sent in the recs, but only one was marked down as received, I emailed Cornell before they took down the Application Status stuff, but I never got a reply. I've emailed again, and still no reply.

If they don't respond within a week or so I'm just going to have my one teacher resend his...

However, I did already have my interview, and my status says sent to CAS for review, but this is not a sign of completeness. So I guess you can still have an interview even with an incomplete app, so I would check on that. But then again, Cornell says the interview (for CAS at least) truly doesn't matter, it's just an informative session, not an evaluative one.

Good Luck!

Thats interesting, because my son received an email from them yesterday saying something was missing, and he needs to go look at the application status page to see what it is. And that says the teacher recommendations are missing. Which is somewhat hard to believe since the HS seems to have been successful in sending them everywhere else.

Here are a few select quotes from the email:

[quote]
We have been unable to make a decision on your application, however, because we are missing some of the required application materials. Each year, Cornell must withdraw a number of applications because they are not completed in a timely fashion.
...
Please submit the missing items within two weeks. We encourage you to fax missing documents to us...

Oh, and my son was contacted 3 or 4 weeks ago about the "informative session" /interview, which he did.

so assuming that they truly are missing one of my recs, if i send it in within the next two weeks, they'll still take it?

everything in for me.

i am worried. They say one of my rec is missing but i haven't received the email saying that i have missing materials. Besides I asked the same two teachers for other colleges at the same time and they arrived just fine.

this is quite awful>< i called the admissions office and they are indeed missing one of my teacher's recs. i hears that Cornell uses rolling admission. will this delay the review of my application aka decrease my chance of getting in??

Hey yeah I received a reply back to my email...am also missing one of my recs, (the thought i had thought they had gotten, go figure), but they said I could fax it to them, so that's what I'm going to do tommorow after I get another copy..

go figure it was the amazing one too, the other one was average...

i'm pretty sure i've gotten everything in, but they are missing one of my recs (according to self-service). i e-mailed them but no reply... shouldn't they e-mail/mail you if you have an incomplete file? what if they mixed up my rec with another girl (my name is pretty common)?

do our chance of acceptance decrease b/c our applications are still not complete?

I certainly hope not...and I wouldn't think so, as long as they get it in time..that is, as long as they haven't made a decision on your file yet...

But who knows

I'll post later to tell if my status was updated, my teacher faxed the rec on Friday afternoon.

yea i asked the teacher to fax it on Friday afternoon no word from them yet
i am still mad about how they didn't email me about missing materials

I checked today, and my application status was updated. Yay! Hopefully the admissions counselors will read it....
