My awesome interview!

I thought this would be of interest to Brown applicants. I had a GREAT interview with a Brown alum who is the CEO of this financial research company. She asked me one or two slightly tricky questions - what unique perspective will you bring? etc. that I managed to handle. Everything went great, and near the end, she actually offered me a summer job in NYC summer after my freshman year of college. :D

I’m more of a writer, but getting the chance to experience Wall Street is a fantastic opportunity. Any other warm and fuzzy interview stories?

Mine said that I was the best fit for Brown that he had ever interviewed.

Aww, well done, lingbo! That should be a wonderful experience for you. I won't say my story was "warm and fuzzy." :P My interviewer generally said that I seemed spiritual and relaxed, and that he thought I'd love it at Brown.

Yeah, all words associated with Brown do not seem to include "super driven" or "competitive"!

Other questions she asked:
What words would your friends use to describe you?
Why Brown?
What got you interested in (EC)? (in my case, gay rights)

Fairly standard, but definitely the most on-the-spot kind of questions out of all my interviews so far.

Glad for you lingbo..I also had a great interview. I had a summer job offer with a Theater production company my interviewer directs! I am hoping that is a good sign..

Congrats to all! I too must say that for all the interviews I've done, the one with Brown was by far the best. He was a former Special Agent for the Secret Service and NSA, absolutely one of the most interesting people i've ever met. We hit off because he was a foreign security analyst and one of my biggest interests is in foreign policy. I'm glad to see so many wonderful Brown Alums.

Just came back from mine...much better than my Columbia one. ;) The good thing was my interviewer did the same double major I was planning to study, plus we had a lot in common so it was a very entertaining talk.

Anybody from NJ go on an interview yet? Still haven't heard.

You guys think your interviews went well. My interview was my next door neighbor who is friends with my mom and her daughter is in my grade and I'm friends with her. It'll come as no surprise then that when I checked on December 15, I found out that with my perfect sat scores and amazing interview, I got deferred.

I'm sorry to hear that, jack88. :( But I'm not really stressing over whether I get in or not, b/c I already got in EA to college, but it would a nice plus if Brown took me too! Good luck to all you guys!

I think a good interview is just a nice experience, not something that will make a huge difference in an app...

Yeah... I jsut wish my brown interview wasn't the second one I had. I mean I was still saying the same stuff - I omitted the ballroom dance stuff interest by accident though - but just not as 200% passionate and crazy as usual. More like 150% :\ Oh wells, we laughed a lot and joked a lot and just it felt really casual.

I need to revisit brown though.

And somebody told me brown is ultracompetitive. I never got that vibe. What the heck?! I always felt it was more of a quirky, artsy school with this flair for originality. Like the students going there are smart but more than that they have unique personalities that all contribute something to the atmosphere and are really involved in stuff. Am I wrong to think this?!

Augh! I mean I wanna have a dual English/Neurosci major so I'd be working hard but... I mean it's one of those schools where it's more fun and open and accepting right? Like... it's obviously great for environmental activism and satisfying my random intellectual and errr... personal fetishes right? Like... lots of crazy awesome personalities and stuffs?

Oh gosh why am I all of a sudden freaking over my fit at my supposed dream school!?
