I'm an out of stater .. and i've been talking to students on their way to UNC and most of them tell me "well i'm not worried, half my high school is going."

are out of staters accepted easily into the groups, or do high school groups that have already formed stick together?

this was a huge reason, other than size, why i really loved wake forest over unc. obviously, wake's waitlist was never used, so i didnt make it in. but i am worried that most people will already have their friends and i'll spend a lot of my time trying to work my way into an established group with a long history together.

my roommate is an out of stater, so i guess we can rely on each other. i'm originally from NC, so i'm familiar with the state, but i havent lived there since 1998.

you got into UNC out-of-state but were waitlisted at wake? i find that surprising for whatever reason..congrats, though! i think you'll find that people are friendly and you'll have a good time.

a lot of in-state people, including me, want to branch out from their high school friends and meet new people, too.

I am IS. This sounds horrible, but I would be totally fine with never seeing anyone from my high school ever again. LOL. I love my roomie to death, but we both want to make all new friends and stuff. My best friend from HS is going to N.C. State. Don't worry about making friends with IS people- I for one love OOS people. Haha. Almost everyone I know wants to branch out and make new friends. : )
