My brother rejected the schools I plan on applying to. Is this going to hurt me?

He was accepted but opted not to attend. Now here I am, gearing up for the application process, and planning to apply to those same schools. Will this hurt my chances?

of course not. why would they take it out on you. hahaha.

because I may tend to do the same thing he did and not accept

haha if the admissions officers can recognize and remember your brother's last name, school you two went to, same residence, etc.

They might (i don't know if they even have that capacity) due to wanting to up their yield stats. If they are not reach, then I wouldn't bother worrying.

They're kinda reach...

and we have same school, residence, etc

No, it will not, unless the schools have a serious case of Tuft's Syndrome.

in a word - no. unless your brother was a "problem applicant"...explanation of this term upon request. ;-)

No.They don't have the time or the inclination to look check for previous applicants who didn't attend. (And I've seen younger siblings accepted to schools that the older sibling turned down.)

lol what's a problem applicant?

I would guess someone who is found to have lied, mislead, etc. or promised to yield if accepted and didn't. For example someone who applied ED to more than one place.

Admissions officer- "Hey guys, itsn't that the prick who rejected us?"
2nd officer-"Oh my, thats his brother..."
Admission officer-"Time for payback gentlemen.."
3rd female officer-"yes, its about time."

lmfao.

Admissions Dean: "The commitee on admissions have carefully reviewed your applications under the regular decision process but we regret......"

HopefulCEO: (reading to family) "I hope this is not a dissapointment to your family and friends but blah blah......"

HopefulCEO: "Big Bro, Come here! I have a big surprise for you"

Big Bro slowly walks away while HopefulCEO chaces behind.
