So can anyone tell me what would be my chances if I were to ED or RD. I would really appreciate it.

vampiro, i'd refer you to Sucharita, Mercurysquad and AkashBansal - possibly top 3 candidates for 2009 class from India. Your profile is a very similar (and to some extent a combination) of these three cc'ers, so look up their profile, stats, acceptances, rejections, etc.

As for your chances-
a. you are a very good candidate
b. if princeton is your first choice, apply ED and you'll have better chances
c. internationals dont tend to have as big of an advantage for ED vs. RD as domestic (all 4 pton acceptees from India to the class of 2009 were accepted in RD)
d. international admission is a crapshoot. there is no use in guessing chances, etc. use your time wisely on your essays etc. and you'll be fine.
e. apply to as many colleges (incl safeties and match) as you can (and none of the ivies, mit, caltech, duke, etc. can be defined as a safety or a match)
f. except for need blind colleges, applyin for financial aid will screw your chances

It's also interesting because there were 3 different outcomes. Sucharita got into Princeton, AkashBansal didnt but ended up at Duke, but unfortunetly I dont think MercurySquad got into any US universities.

hi vampiro, you have really good chance doing either ED or RD, however you should also check out MIT since it seems you are a comp wiz :P

Hehe thanks guys..check out MIT! Man I have bin checking out MIT since I was 8. Sort of a dream place (only prob they don't offer EA to Intl's).
I wont apply ED though to PTON. But Yeah it is my second choice coz I love the general methodolgy and attitude of the people there.

Adi..In what ways am I similar to the fellow Indian CCers.
Thanks for the advice everyone.

duuude why not apply to india tech with those numbers...

princeton2010 - if by India Tech you're referring to IIT - they don't look at any numbers other than the ones you score in their entrance test.

(and if vampiro is like the Indian '09 CCers he'll probably hate IIT LOL :p)

vampiro I think your stats look very good, but like adi said, intl admissions are a crapshoot so no one really knows what's going to happen

oh how sweet of u vampiro, to leave ED princeton to ur indian bro right here? ;)

hehe sure callthecops you can have the ED. (did you read what adi wrote..that is in reality the case).
Thanks for the replies everyone.
Sucharita..well these guys don't really know the IIT's that well...hehehe
Adi still waiting for your reply.

vampiro - chk some previous posts on tit 13 (link on pg1 of tit14), esp around 3/31 and u'll get an answer...

you'll also realize that as fabulous as ur stats, ecs, awards, passions etc. are - there will be few other intl applicants like u as well and at that time it could be a tossup...wont matter what chances thread will yield...there is only 1 way to find out ur chances...apply to enough colleges and await for your decision...
