My chances and questions about IU

Can I get into Indiana? I'm a New Jersey resident and I'm white.

My GPA will be about a 3.72 (A 4.0 is an A- and a 3.6 is a B+)
- My school calculates GPA on a 4.6 scale do. I don't know what it would be on a 4.0 scale.

My SAT scores are: V 450 M 660 W 610
I took them twice and I don't think I am going to take them again in October. I know my verbal score is bad, but I have a high math score and my GPA is pretty good.

My EC's are nothing special- FBLA 11 and 12, Camp counselor summer of 05 and 06. and I'm a basketball ref 9th 10th 11th

Also what's the atmosphere like at Indiana? Is it easy to meet new people and make friends there if you are out of state and don't really know anyone.

Also, what would be the cheapest way to get there from New Jersey?

I think the cheapest way actually would be to fly. Rates for flying out there Saturday are only $140. You'd have to fill up a few times if you're driving I believe. Plus you don't want to spend 10-12 hours in a car when you could fly in 1 & 1/2 hours.

Oh yeah, don't worry about your chances. They may even throw a nice scholarship your way. I would re-take the SAT or try the ACT. Higher scores = more $$$. Also for many other schools you will need higher scores.

Hello! I'm from New York City and I really like the environment here. Almost everyone I've met were friendly and approachable, and the campus is really nice (Yeah, I know, it sounds like propaganda). One of my criticisms about IUB is that its student body isn't very diverse despite its size (then again, I'm from NYC), and most of the time I meet in-staters from from places I don't even know- but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've made friends with most of them, so that's pretty cool. The large size may be a good thing depending on you- I happen to like seeing new faces every day. There is definitely always something to do on campus (except Sunday morning- even the mall is closed at 11:30 am). School spirit is pretty high here too!

In terms of your academics- your GPA is defintely pretty good for IU and your EC's are fine. My only gripe would be your SAT scores, which I'm sure you'll be able to boost the next time you take it. Best wishes to you!

P.S. Flying is the easiest way. I flew in from La Guardia on US Airways. I'm not sure if there're flights in from Newark and how much they cost, so you might want to check that.

im rpobably not going to take the sats again

What about the ACT? You did very well in Math. The ACT is less geared on the reading and grammar as the SAT is. If you could score 27+, i'm betting they throw 6-7 grand your way. However, with your current scores, I think you might be dissapointed with your scholarships.
