I am an out of state student from New Jersey. I didn't work very hard during high school at all, but Indiana has always been a school that I liked. If I don't get in it's not the end of the world for me but I would really like to attend next fall. I have a 3.3 GPA and about a 1050 on my SAT for math and reading. I have been in a pretty good amount of extra curricular activities throughout high school. I have already sent in my application online as well as my SAT scores. I am also sending in a personal statement, extra curricular activities summary sheet and even 2 teacher recommendations. My intended major is Political Science. What are my chances of getting in? I just want to know so I don't expect anything and then get disappointed when IU's decision is made.

Iu ONLY cares about numbers, your sats are good but your gpa is a little low, I would say you should get in but it is not a sure thing

Opposite of what he^^said:

GPA is fine for IU; if you are not accepted, it will be because of your SAT and they will even tell you that if you are deferred.

I have been hearing lately that Indiana only does care about numbers and that is why they dont require an essay or LORs on the application. My guidance counselor told me that since Indiana is a borderline school for me that I should still send in the optional things.

wow, my D has the exact same scores as you. 3.3 and 1050 also out of state! New York. We are waiting for a decision as well. Keep me posted and I will too. Good luck

I got in with a 2.8 OOS but then again, I’m a transfer student… so it is easier for me. Good luck!
