My unweighted GPA is 3.3 of 4.0,we don’t have weighted GPA here in my country.
I don’t have SAT or ACT scores.
If you need to ask me questions in order to understand my situation better, plz do.
Are you applying for financial aid, or are you able to fully pay? What are your extracurriculars? Do you have awards or other notable achievements? What kinds of classes have you taken (such as highest math class)? What is your intended major?
Yes I am applying for financial aid, I have 9 extracurricular activities (community services, working in copywriting and SEO, mentor at a local club, Programming competitions-I didn’t win but I have participated-, working in a clothes shop)
I have only an award at Math in my senior year over my country.
In my country we don’t have hard classes or easy classes like honors or college classes, however every grade the classes get harder.
And I have 2 Gap Years
And I don’t play any kind of sports
Have you looked into whether the colleges you list are need blind or need aware for international students? That will likely make a significant difference in your chances for acceptance.
Some of them are need aware, I am not sure if any of them is need blind.
I know somewhere on this forum someone has posted a list of need blind schools for international students. A forum search may turn up that information. I would check your list against that one - those are probably the schools where you would have the best chance.
There is Kenyon college, I forgot to list it.
@Rabeh how much financial aid do you need? Actually better question…how much can your parents pay annually for you to attend college here! Of the schools you listed…none are need blind for admissions AND meet full need for all accepted international students.
You need to check each financial aid website to see about financial aid for international students.
For example…at St.Anselms, you would not be eligible for need based aid…merit only for international students.
Whether need blind or need aware, at the end of the day the question is whether you can afford any of them if you do get an offer. As far as I know Grinnell and Kenyon are the only ones on that list that promise to meet need for international students.
Have you looked at the prices and potential financial aid for each of the colleges on your list? for example, there is nearly zero chance of University of Colorado- Boulder giving you financial aid, so do you have $60K+ / per annum? if not, it doesn’t matter if they accept you- you won’t be able to attend.
And both are need aware for international students. This means the level of can be considered when the application for admission is read.
There are colleges that will accept you. However, the issue will be can you pay for them.
I wish you luck - it is a very competitive landscape for international students who need significant financial aid so chancing is almost impossible. I suggest that you also find affordable back-ups in your home country.
What can your parents afford to pay every year?
How good is that 3.3 in your country - top 20% in school, top 20% in county, top 10% in country…?
This was my question.
Are you in the top 5% of your class, top 10%, or what?
What kind of rigor do you have? Most rigorous course load at your school? Average rigor? Not much rigor?
What things do you do after school? Are you involved in the community? Do you have any leadership? Awards? Jobs? Etc…
You’re asking for chances at a whole lot of colleges but we have no context for understanding your chances. Please give us more info.
Colleges that guarantee to meet full need for international students are probably going to select the most qualified (best) applicants. They typically will accept the best of the best from each country because there is only so much money in the pot.
