My Chances as of now! =DPlease!!!Will chance back!!! Thanks!

Hi everyone I really want to go to Wharton. I am currently a sophomore could you tell me my progress? If I have a chance? Thanks everyone for taking your time to see my thread!

9th Grade Courses:
Cartoon Animation AB
Algebra 1 AB
Biology AB
Health/ Life Skills
Body Dynamics AB
Geometry AB
English 9AB
Spanish Speakers 1 AB

I got an A in all my classes except Body Dynamics :(. My teacher was so unreasonable; he accused me of cheating when I did it unknowingly and not as much as he had exaggerated! I sware! There was no negotiating w/ him. I was attending a Magnet and they had said in their brochure "all honor classes" however none of them were! My counselor refused to put me in non-magnet classes that were Honors so I was stuck in regular but I took honors all years 6-8 and I wouldn't have attended that school If i had known they didn't have honor courses for 9th graders. (Does this destroy my chances? Could I put this somewhere on my application?)

10th Grade Schedule: ( I switched schools since my last school had limited Honors and AP classes and my counselor was horrible)
AP Spanish Language AB
H Chemistry AB
H Algebra 2 AB
AP World History AB
H English 10AB
JV Football

So far I am/planning/hoping I have an A at the end of the semester in all my classes.
My EC's:
Football
Newspaper
Debate Club
L.A. Improvement Club
Academic Decathlon(School has won nationals)

Im hispanic(will this help?) and have gotten a (5) on the AP Human geo exam freshman year and I am self-studying AP Euro,Psych, and Biology

Thankyou everyone! I really appreciate any replies!

anyone please?

? i never seem to get any replies

Things like cartoon animation, body dynamics, etc. are probably going to be left out of consideration when universities calculate your GPA. They use their own metrics and do not include some classes, at least from what I’ve heard.

The predicament with the honor classes can be added into the “Additional Information” portion of your application.

I find that you are missing classes in Calculus. This is extremely important for Wharton, and may cause you to lose out in terms of competitiveness against other applicants. That being said, what are your standardized test scores? If you do well for the SAT II Mathematics, that may help to reduce the negatives of you not having attended more advanced mathematics classes.

EC’s are OK. They show diversity, not a demonstrated passion. Not sure how this will be judged by the admissions office, but it will be contingent on how well your essays and short answer response are written. Any leadership roles?

I agree with the above, classes like cartoon animation and body dynamics won’t really factor in when you apply. Make sure you take calculus by the time you apply, they really want to see that. If you can, double up on pre-calc/trig and AP calc AB next year, if that’s not too much. By doing so you will get on track with many other Wharton applicants. At the present moment, there is not really enough information to make a sound judgement on your behalf. We don’t know what courses you will take your junior and senior year nor your SAT/ACT scores. Just keep challenging yourself and trying to take leadership roles. If you work hard enough, you’ll have a good chance.

Thanks yshuwah93 and dfree124! I know what you guys mean by Cartoon Animation and all, it was my freshman year and I took it to fufuill my art requirment. I do plan on taking Calculus my senior year, I am currently taking Algebra 2 (im a sophomore) and I plan on taking Stats along with Pre-Calc my Junior year. Thanks for all the advice! I know what you mean by not a direct passion but I’m still searching, I took the PSAT about 2 weeks ago I can post them as soon as I get them. So yshuwah would this mean that my C wouldnt reduce my GPA? Thanks again really appreciate it! If I can do anything for you guys please PM me =^)

Your C? If you mean the grades for the Body Dynamics class, then I would say that it wouldn’t reduce your GPA.

You’re welcome!

Oh Ok Thanks for the clarification! =)
