My chances at all the ivy leagues and stanford, mit, and university of chicago

I was wondering what were my chances.
I have a 3.98 unweighted gpa, and a 5.48 weighted gpa.
I took:
9th grade: english 1 pre-ib, world history pre-ib, algebra 2 honors, biology 1 pre-ib, journalism 2 honors, art 1 pre-ib, and spanish 3 pre-ib.

10th grade: AP language and composition, AP us history, IB pre-calculus, physics 1 pre-ib/chemistry 1 pre-ib*, HOPE (basically a p.e. class), AP spanish lang, and AP
government/economics 1 pre-ib. *our school made us take one semester of physics and one semester of chemistry for the purpose of "enhancing our learning".

11th grade: English 3 IB, Contemporary history IB SL, Physics 2 IB, Biology 2 IB, Spanish 4 IB, TOK/research, and Math IB SL.

12th grade: English 4 IB SL, European history IB HL, Physics 3 IB HL, Spanish 5 IB HL, TOK, Math IB HL, and IB Music SL

I got a 7 on the Bio SL exam, 6 on the IB Spanish 4 exam, 4 in AP lang, 5 in AP gov, 5 in AP ush, 5 in AP Physics B( had to take this exam also with Physics 2 IB), and 5 on AP sp lang. I also did online classes and got: 5 in AP Calculus AB, 5 in AP art history, 4 in AP environmental sci, and 4 in AP computer science A.

Awards: won first place in two spanish competitions for 4 years, got first place in a math regional competition, 1st in science fair, 2nd in a county chess competition, National Merit Finalist and winner, and got the top AP test award. Oh, and got Biology student of the year in 9th and 11th grades.

PSAT: 225
SAT 1: 800 in math, 780 in reading, 780 in writing = 2460
SAT 2: 800 in math lv2, 770 in spanish, 790 in physics

I did Band(captain, 4 years), water polo (4 years), Ecology club (vice-president, 4 years), chess club (4 years, president), math club (4 years, president), NHS.

I have research experience at UM (in florida), did a ongoing project that transfered and gathered food for poorer countries like Ghana, and recently, Haiti. I organized relay for life for all 4 years for my school.

So what are my chances?

800+780+780=2460?

sorry 2360, but maybe some other comment?

I’m putting quotes to signify myself saying it out loud, “■■■■■?”

If not, just go ahead and apply as a professor at MIT or CalTech. They would be lucky to have you.

But seriously, if that is legit I will amputate my own foot. With a Swiss Army Knife

Edit: 5.48 weighted GPA??

You did not share any race/ethnicity information, so I’ll assume you are unhooked. Nonetheless, you have solid chances everywhere.

Might as well go to Harvard

To nwgolfer321:
yes, that is actually my weighted gpa.

To silverturtle:
If it matters, I am asian, korean to be more precise.

kwany111:

I suggest you go to the forums for these schools and check out the admission results threads for this and past years in each of them. I think you will see that your stats look like those of hundreds of other posters who were admitted. Unfortunately you will also see that they look like hundreds who were not admitted, too.

silverturtle is right: you are a solid candidate for admissions at most of these schools, but a “sure-bet” at none (no one is). If you want to seek admission, your task in the next year is to figure out which of these schools appeal to you and how to present yourself to appeal to them. This does not mean doing anything phony or insincere. Rather it means figuring out what your talents and interests are (academic and non-academic), how they fit at your schools of interest, and how you can demonstrate your talents and your fit to the admissions committees at your target schools.

nwgolfer321:

Some schools weight grades in accelerated classes +2 (or x1.5), hence 5+ GPA’s are possible.

Do you spend much time on CC? If so, you would see that kwany’s credentials, praiseworthy as they are, are neither unbelievable nor unheard of for posters here. But please keep the Swiss Army knife in your pocket.

If you’re a junior, you can’t be a National Merit “winner” yet, because Finalists were just announced.

Putting that aside, this is a very good set of qualifications. What, if anything, is wrong with it? Grades, scores, and school-based ECs are all excellent. The only thing that’s missing that a fair number of admittees to the most selective schools have is a significant achievement outside of school–ideally, one that involves some selective entity having evaluated you. Possibly your research experience might fit the bill for this, depending on what it is. What are you planning to do this summer?

I think you are likely to be admitted to several of the most selective schools, but you could very well be rejected from some of them also.

Rank? What was the pool of your spanish and science fairs? (State - region - county - national - etc)

Nontheless, you are solid applicant everywhere. Probably acceptance everywhere.

Korean winning spanish competitions? Cool : )

Your academics are solid. Your ECs/awards top out at the regional level, though. You have a shot, but you’re a mid level applicant to HYPSM. I would say you’re 80% in at UChicago.

You have a shot; hard to say anything else, because . . .

those schools reject 3/4 of applicants with SATs as high as yours

same with GPAs like yours

In other words, you have as good a shot as anyone . . . but your stats don’t make you a lock

So . . .what are your safeties?

Kei

I meant probable* acceptance everywhere. Probably is too strong.

For RAlec114:
My rank is 1 out of 537 people.

For everyone:
The spanish competitions were county. I got honorable mention at the state level 2 years and my junior year I got 2nd place.

To Kei-o-lie:
my safeties are university of florida and university of texas at Austin.
I live in florida and for anyone who lives in florida, you can get something called bright futures scholarship which pays for 75% tuition. As for University of texas at Austin, i used to live in tx so it’s kind of appealing although i am applying to rice u (not a safety)

To Hunt:
I’m not a junior, but a senior.

To Everyone:
Anyway, i got into uf.

Lol, you didn’t tell us that you’re valedictorian… kind of important… haha

seal the deal with a bomb essay and you got it

Hi Silverturtle.

^ Hello to you as well.
