I have made JUSAMO 2 years running and will likely make USAMO next year as a junior. I also have taken 4 AP's and gotten fives on all of them (physics b, calculus bc, world history, and biology) and took Calc III as a sophomore. I have a scholarship for a 4-credit course at University of Rochester in the fall and will use it for something. I'm taking Physics C, AP U.S History, AP chemistry, AP language and composition, AP statistics, and possibly AP psychology, macroeconomics, and microeconomics and expect to get fives on all of them. I have gotten all A's the past two years in high school but did get one B+ in eight grade on Pre-Calculus ES (basically honors pre- Calc). I also do Model U.N, science Olympiad, FBLA, Math Team, chess team, play violin and volleyball and write for the school newspaper. Made the NYSML tiebreaker this year for math team and got one of our school's two medals at science Olympiad states along with a first place and 2 second places at regionals. Pretty mediocre results at my other extracurriculars for now though. Will likely make varsity volleyball but not be a star player. Might make my area's top orchestras for senior year and get above 95 on NYSSMA. Have position of leadership in Chess team, will definitely get it in math team for only senior year, might get it in FBLA next year, and possibly get it in the other clubs I do senior year. Will likely get all A's next year and probably get at least 2300 on SAT and 230 on PSAT (am at like 2200 now). Also got 800 on Subject Tests for Physics and Math 2 and expect to get 800's on all my subject tests which I take for the corresponding AP's I have taken (still have to take biology and world history but will do that in like October). Am a poor essay writer but have begun working on my common-app essay already. Also have shadowed doctors and seen surgeries in an Indian hospital for what it's worth. What do my odds at an 8-year medical program look like? And how much will my accomplishments in Math help? For reference, I was not accepted at a Mini-Medical school at the U of R so I got worried.

Please I need to no so I can determine what more I should do next year or whether I should do some other field than medical.

What schools are we talking about specifically?

I don’t know yet. 7-year medical would also be fine. Perhaps University of Rochester, University of Pittsburgh, and Stony Brook to name a few. Anywhere with an 8-year or 7-year medical in the northeast would be fine.

I forgot to mention. By the end of this summer I will have volunteered about a 100 hours in hospitals

Thanks for the suggestion legoo. What do you suggest I do?

The 7-year and 8-year medical programs you mentioned are reaches, albeit reachable.

They don’t care about gpa and SAT as long as you meet minimum reqs. The thing that will make or break it is your experience shadowing, volunteering, and your essays. They want to be 100% sure you are dedicated to medicine.

So making USAMO and getting 5’s on 10+ AP’s really won’t matter when I apply for an 8-year medical (or 7-year medical) school?
