Schools I'm applying to:
Georgetown School of Nursing and Health Studies
Duke - Trinity
UVA
Emory
Georgia Tech
Johns Hopkins

slim at duke/jhu...you're class rank is going to hurt you dude. and a 4 on ap calc...that's like the easiest ap test. no offense.

I appreciate your input..but please don't insult my intelligence. If you're brilliant and you want to flaunt it... remember that you didn't earn your IQ, you were born with it. It's not my fault that I didn't win the genetic lottery.
And...yes, I know the AB exam is not that difficult.

Thanks again.

Move to "What Are My Chances" forum?

MITpwnsnoobs69: I don't think AP scores really factor much into admissions...

I'd say you're probably okay for GaTech, Duke and JHU are reaches. I can't comment on the others. Do you have any awards for your science research?

Your AP scores are excellent - ignore anyone who says otherwise.

that class rank really will pull your chances down significantly for UVA. Try to bring it up as much as possible.

i apologize for inadvertently insulting your intelligence. i'm just saying that i didn't think ap calc was too difficult. i like your chances at georgetown, emory, and georgia tech though. good luck.

Thanks for the advice.

No hard feelings MIT..

is an B+ avg unweighted..taking all honors and APs really that bad?

bump.......

you said around 20 or 40 to top schools right? how big is your class?

I can't say for that particular Georgetown school, but UVA, Duke, and JHU are definitely reaches. GTech looks secure, though. I'd find schools more realistic for your GPA/rank (and no, a B+ average is not bad, but top 10% is usually a requisite for non-hooked applicants to top schools).

My class size is 680.

In that case, UVA definitely is a reach. For UVA (and especially for out-of-staters), you virtually have to be in the top 10% of your graduating class and top % to have a better chance. High SAT scores (meaning a 2300-2400) still don't make up for low grades to UVA.

Now that you have some more input, you should honestly stop worrying about your chances to various schools. Although the majority of schools you have listed are reaches, you should still apply and hope for the best, but make sure you apply to safety schools within your own state. There really isn't a point in worrying too much over chances, I know people who were rejected at schools we thought theyd get into for sure and people get into schools where we thought theyd definitely be rejected.

if you were top ten percent JHU would be a match but because of your rank JHU is a low reach otherwise GJ on scores and 200 hours at hospital and all that
