<p>Hello, I have been accepted into Rutgers University - Newark and Montclair State University, but my top school is Rutgers University - New Brunswick. I have been an average student throughout high school displaying A/B averages. I am still waiting for a response from Rutgers - New Brunswick and have been a little paranoid on whether or not I will be accepted. </p>
<p>Some of my following averages and scores:
Freshman GPA: 88.7008
Sophomore GPA: 87.2750
Junior GPA: 86.7667
Overall GPA (including the first semester of senior year): 87.9562</p>
<p>SATs:
Critical Reading -500
Math - 540
Writing - 520</p>
<p>Since the beginning of my Senior year, I have displayed improvement in my academics and a slightly higher GPA. I am just very nervous as for what my response will be.</p>
<p>My GPA for the first semester of my Senior year is 90.1667</p>
<p>I am just curious as to whether this might have an effect on my application and the decision of the admissions office at Rutgers University. I would like to know what my chances are. All responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you!</p>
<p>Your GPA looks to be decent (my school goes on a 4.0 scale, not sure how yours works), but your SAT scores are somewhat worrying. They’re well below Rutgers’ middle 50%. Are you in-state? That might give you a boost, but don’t guarantee much.</p>
<p>I think you have a solid B+ average GPA and could get in. Colleges do like to see improvement in grades, and I don’t think Rutgers is any exception. However, for now I will say you are out in New Brunswick because of the SAT.</p>
<p>I am an in-state resident. I know my SATs are low for their middle 50%, however they do accept few people with lower scores than those in that region, correct? I am also a member of my school’s Italian Honor Society, I was employed for a year at a local library, I was on my school’s Art and Literature magazine staff, I have been a volunteer for two years on my town’s volunteer Emergency Medical Ambulance Squad and I have also put myself through a course to become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the state of New Jersey. Will this all help boost the chances of me getting accepted or am I hopeless? I have been accepted into their Newark campus. In the worst case, I could attend that campus for my first year and transfer to New Brunswick after a year if I take 30 credits and maintain a 3.0 GPA. I don’t think that will be too much of a challenge for me to achieve since I have had more of an interest in my academics and will continue to care more about my grades especially in college. I am just nervous and paranoid. I tend to let my nerves get the best of me.</p>
<p>I think that if you have good EC’s, which it seems like you do, and have well-written essays, you have a better shot. Your EC’s have a pretty good focus and variety. It’s just the scores that probably concern AO’s. What is your intended major?</p>
<p>If you do not get into New Brunswick, however, a good idea would be what you suggested: go to Newark and transfer into New Brunswick afterward. If you do well in Newark and maintain a strong GPA, this shouldn’t cause any problems.</p>
<p>I applied to the School of Arts and Sciences as Undecided. I really regret not preparing for the SAT as much as I should have. And it won’t be the end of the world if I don’t get into New Brunswick, because I do have more than one back up school.</p>
