Haha, I'm not in love with NY or anything but a lot of schools I'm interested in are there, so whatever! My 'stats' aren't terribly impressive but I'm close to the top 5% at my school (10/170). I'm kind of lazy, not in the sense that I sit on the couch and watch TV all day, but because my lack of ECs will make me look lazy, I fear! For more perspective, I'm a junior, just turned 17 and have never had a job (I'm looking to get one very soon, but I'm guilty of being really lazy the past few summers!). My few ECs: I've done Math Team for 3 years, the school magazine (editor/layout staff) for 3 years, and edited the school paper for a year. I realize that won't be enough for most schools so I'm hoping my solid grades/scores will go a long way... I have around a 3.8 GPA (unweighted)... I've got 2 or 3 B's in high school and have taken Honors English 3 years, Honors History 3 years, Honors Math 3 years, Honors Spanish a year (the first two years of Spanish aren't offered at an accelerated pace..) and will be taking AP English and AP Spanish next year (my school only offers 5 APs) along with a few more Honors classes. I'm taking the SATs for the first time in May (I got a 217 on the PSAT, which is pretty good, so I'm hoping I do just as well on the SATs) and tend to test very well, so I'm hoping that my solid grades, a good SAT score, a good essay, and a commitment to a few extracurriculars over my four years of HS will be enough for at least some good schools. What do you think? Reach/match/safety for each works for me.
