My school offers an eight period through block scheduling. However, over the course of the year and during the summer, I take additional classes through Florida Virtual School and dual enrollment, so at a given point in time, I can be taking up to 11 or 12 classes concurrently. I am expected to reach 50 high school credits by the end of my senior year

I intend to be a mathematics major once I am in college, hopefully pairing it off with either some form of engineering or information security. I know my primary test scores aren't fantastic, but I am working on it. Please chance me, and as stated above, I will chance you back. Simply provide the link and I will do my best to "chance" you as you have chanced me.

You have good chances at all of these schools because you are doing QuestBridge, you have solid EC’s, and you are ranked 3rd in a class of 1673(!!). You will get into at least one of your reach schools especially if you improve your testing and write good essays.

What is your UW GPA?

Every single OOS public on your list will not meet your financial need. All of your other schools are high reaches, especially since you have a weak ACT/SAT. The rest of your application is decent, so look into test-optional schools.

<a href=“ACT/SAT Optional List - Fairtest”>http://www.fairtest.org/university/optional</a></p>

My unweighted GPA is listed at 3.952. I plan on retaking the exams as stated, so hopefully those will yield better scores.

@mlpwas100 You’ve already taken it twice and your score went down. Please consider some of the test-optional colleges in case your SAT doesn’t work out.

I am aware that my score went down the second time I took the SAT. I did not study as much as I hoped to leading up to the second examination, but nonetheless I will retake the exams and strive for the highest possible score that I can obtain.

IMHO
For the schools that you have to submit all testing scores, your low Reading and Writing scores will raise red flags.
Where is your 3-4 years of foreign language?
Completed a-g courses for UCs?

honestly, ur sat score might put u in the auto-reject zone for a lot of these schools. get ur sat up becuase if its low, admission counselors dont even read ur app so the ec’s are uselss. chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1674595-chance-me-at-georgia-tech-cooper-union-virginia-tech-and-case-western.html#latest</a></p>

I only have 2 years of Spanish, and I am an OOS student, so I am not sure about the a-g courses for UCs @beerme‌

@mlpwas100‌

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/freshman/requirements/a-g-requirements/</a></p>

If you can get your SAT/ACT Scores up you would have very good chances. There is only so much you can improve in that field, so maybe you should consider looking into test optional schools (there are more and more these days). But, your class rank is awesome and your EC’s look great. The only thing holding you back is test scores.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1674535-please-chance-me-i-ll-chance-back.html#latest</a></p>

How is it possible to have a weighted GPA of 6.785? Even with college classes, the maximum should be 5.0.
What’s your UC GPA?
Everything but your test scores are good (and yes, I know it’s been said). If you can, only submit your ACT, as admissions officers tend to look at the composite more. Since your Math scores are good, I’d suggest focusing on the English sections when you study. Ask teachers about practice essays, ask them to help you with any grammar issues you have…

As a Florida resident, UC net price will be about $23,000 too expensive. See the net price calculators.

Although UCs, compared to many other schools, de-emphasize test scores relative to GPA, they do not ignore them completely. The rare merit scholarships which may make them affordable (e.g. Stamps at UCLA) are likely out of reach with your test scores.

Check the net price calculators of your safeties to make sure that you can afford them. A school is not a safety if you cannot afford it.

http://automaticfulltuition.yolasite.com/</a> and <a href=“Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #50 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>Competitive Full Tuition / Full Ride Scholarships - #50 by BobWallace - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums; may be of interest if you need low cost schools.

@beerme‌ judging from the link @loquatical‌ provided, i believe i have completed the required a-g course requirements for UC

@topaz1116‌ according to my counselor, the GPA system is glitched. Supposedly the theoretical maximum is 6, but I’ve seen GPAs go as high as 8.6 in my county. I don’t know how to calculate my UC GPA, but I am pretty sure it will be something more believable. I haven’t thought of pursuing that route,to approach my English teacher, but now that you bring it up, I definitely will try it out.

@ucbalumnus‌ my safety school is FIU, which I have already been accepted to. In Florida, there is the Bright Futures Scholarship, and I also happened to have prepaid college, so its pretty much set for all of the public universities in Florida. I don’t know where I mentioned the UCs as potential safeties, but I understand your concern. I am hoping the provided financial aid, given that I am accepted, on top of scholarships will help with costs if I am to attend either of the two UCs.

Can you afford the OOS schools? Excluding UVA and UNC CH they give minimal to no need based aid. The other schools are all reaches with current test scores.
Look into Wake Forest because SAT/ACT is optional

@mlpwas100 Count all AP and dual enrollment courses on your high school transcript from 10th to 11th grade as 5s and the rest of them as 4s. On the scale, a 4 is an A or A-, a 3 is a B+, B, or B-, etc. For AP courses, you just add an extra point–5 for an A, 4 for a B…
Add up all the points for all four semesters, then divide it by the number of courses you took in those semesters.

only from 10th to 11th grade? 9th grade is not counted? @topaz1116‌

If you are happy with FIU, you don’t need safeties. You are fortunate to be going in already with an option. I wouldn’t recommend UCs as they do not offer substantial financial aid or merit aid to OOS students, period. You have a very reach heavy list, which is fine as long as you are prepared to have a thick skin during decisions season. Check out Tufts, Lehigh, and University of Rochester, for some high match/lower reaches.
