musictoad,
I did find your information about the downgrading of legacy status to "not considered" in the CDS, but I'm not finding your admission stat for ED. The class profiled in the most recent CDS (the class of 09) has an ED admit rate of around 50%. The only stat I can find on ED via the Register (now that the Hustler archive has disappeared) is one where Dean Shain says he is trying to keep the % of the admitted class that was admitted via ED down to around 30%: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/register/articles?search_string=Early+Decision&x=13&y=2&id=24943. Do you have a published stat on the class of 2010 as to how many applied and how many were admitted via ED?
Whatever Vanderbilt is choosing to report in the CDS regarding legacy preference, I wonder if they don't at least have an attitude similar to Penn in that legacy/sibling connection is at least meaningful for those applying ED. You would be more likely to be familiar with the campus, its culture, etc. and you would be able to make a better connection in those all important essays - just my opinion. Glad I don't have to sweat these deadlines out anymore!

2VU--it's in the new brochure 2010 class profile..

1329 applicants for ED
553 admitted
33.8 % accepted.

Thanks, musictoad. That's certainly a big decrease after years of hovering in the 50% neighborhood.
