Lastly, should I add on to my list, how high of a school can I realistically reach for? Sorry bout all the questions anything bit of advice will help thanks yall
I think Northeastern is a match, and doing ED will help you for sure.
In my school, two people got into NEU with ED and EA and people who had higher stats who applied in Regular did not get it.
You don’t have a good chance at Boston college, however you may be able to get into northeastern and all the other schools on your list.
@StudyFoxx Northeastern and BC have similar admission rates and test scores. It’s not uncommon to get into one and not the other, in both directions. Both BC and NEU will be low reaches.
You’ll probably get into BU, BC and Northeastern if you apply ED. Drexel should be easy to get into.
From the data that I have seen the average weighted gpa for northeastern is much lower than BC. I am going off of the data that my school provides, and BC is a lot harder to get into than northeastern.
StudyFoxx - I assume you’re using Naviance here. Personally, I don’t think that’s the most valid gauge in this case as NEU and BU have gotten a lot more selective over the last ten years, whereas BC is not really any harder to get into than it was ten years ago. Naviance catalogues this data for as long as your school has had the program so the data is provided without context.
As far as GPA goes, BC doesn’t release information on the average GPA of incoming students. Northeastern gives their middle 50% as 3.9-4.4 weighted. Assuming a normal distribution the median GPA at Northeastern would be a 4.15 weighted.
With a 4.15 weighted GPA and 1450 SAT I would rate your chance as such:
Drexel: safety
Fordham: low match
George Washington: low match/match
Boston U: match
Boston College: match/high match
Northeastern: match/high match
I applied to all of these schools - save Drexel - recently with similar stats and was admitted to all of them. So you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t ED Northeastern because the admit rate isn’t that much better (ED: 33%. RD: 27%), and you stand the risk of getting a vastly inferior financial aid package since the school does not need to entice you attend.
