I am a senior in Connecticut attending a competitive private school. My grades aren’t great… I have a 3.61 weighted GPA and about a 3.4 unweighted. My SAT scores, however, are much better, as my best score is a 2100 composite (1430/1600). And the other thing is, I got a perfect 800 on the math section!! (side question: Is getting an 800 math score a huge deal? Does it give me a chance at any elite universities despite my grades?)
My top three schools are
University of Connecticut - Storrs
Boston University
Bentley University
What are my chances of admission at each of these? Also, do I have a chance at a merit scholarship/honors program at any of these?
Oh, also, my intended major is actuarial science. Are there any elite universities that offer this that you thini I have a chance at?
If you mean elite universities as in Ivy League or other colleges of around that caliber, you need at least a 2200 SAT and at least a 3.8+ unweighted to be even close to competitive. Now, with the colleges on your list, I only know about BU. I’d say you have a chance at BU but your GPA is slightly low.
I’d say you look pretty strong to get into all 3 of those schools. But go to Bentley because Bentley is the best =D
I would say you would be able to get into UConn but I would need more info. like EC’s, the rigor of classes you took, and class rank
You’re probably good for the 3 schools mentioned.
