My chances for CSU

I was wondering what CSUs I have a good chance in. My gpa is 4.2 weighted and 3.8 unweighted. Sat is 980. Major is Psychology

I am assuming you are asking about Cal States? First you need to calculate your CSU GPA since this is usually a different calculation than your HS GPA.
You get 8 semesters of extra honors points in the GPA calculation for 10-11th grades only in the a-g courses and only for UC approved Honors, AP/IB or DE classes. Not all HS designated Honors classes are weighted by the CSU’s so you can look up your California HS on this link and see which courses are approved. They have a yellow star next to the course. 9th grades are not included nor Senior grades (not available at the time of application).

Type in the name of your HS here: https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist

Here is the link for CSU GPA calculator: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/eligibility-index

Once you have your correct CSU GPA capped weighted then plug that in to this formula to get your Eligibility index

(CSU GPA capped weighted x 800) + (SAT Math + EBRW).

The CSU’s (except Cal Poly SLO) admit by EI and major. You are ranked based on your EI within your major and they accept from the top down. Local in-service area applicants get priority for their local CSU (exceptions SDSU and SLO).

Psychology is a competitive major due to the popularity/high # of applicants.

Based on what you have posted, you have a good chance at all the CSU’s with the exception of Cal Poly SLO, SDSU, CSU Long Beach and Fullerton but if your GPA is correct, there is a huge mismatch between your GPA and test scores.

Please repost with your EI.

Best of luck.

Thank you. My EI is 4340

The collleges I applied for that I really want to get in is CSUF and CalPoly

^ CalPoly Pomona

with an EI of 4340, i think you are competitive for all of the CSUs other than CP SLO.

good luck

Thank you! Nervous about getting in :frowning:

I agree that your EI makes you competitive for CPP and CSU Fullerton. Best of luck. If the CSU’s on schedule this year with their decisions (may be delayed to the application extension), you should be hearing starting Mid-February.

Thank you!! Appreciate it

Today, I just got an acceptance email from CSUF!! Extremely grateful for everyone who helped me especially @Gumbymom when i was worried haha. Really means a lot <3

@Lunah: Congratulations and best of luck.
