im looking to apply to sjsu, sfsu, csuf (local), and maybe cpp, what are the odds of me getting into any?
I’m assuming chances are very slim

I wanna apply for a physics bs at sjsu but undeclared for the rest
Is your listed GPA, your CSU GPA?
Yes, I think so
How Cal States admit:
The Cal states admit by major and eligibility index. They really only consider GPA/Test scores/Geographic location and HS course rigor. Other than Cal Poly SLO, your EC’s are not considered.
You need to calculate your CSU/UC GPA using grades from a-g courses taken 10-11th.
https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Not sure which courses are a-g and will give you extra honors points, then use this link by typing in your HS name?
https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist#/list/search/institution
Cal states and the majority of the UC’s use the capped weighted GPA.
Then calculate your Eligibility index:
If you took the Redesigned SAT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 800) + (SAT Evidence Based Reading & Writing (EBRW) + Math Score) = Eligibility Index
Eligibility index for ACT:
(CSU capped weighted GPA X 200) + (ACT Composite x10)= Eligibility Index
**CSULB and SJSU use a modified EI for STEM/Engineering majors:
http://www.sjsu.edu/admissions/impaction/impactionresultsfreshmen/index.html
You will then be ranked based on EI and major and they accept from the top down until all spots are filled.
You will get priority at your local CSU which you can look up on this link. Local applicants usually require a lower EI to get an acceptance unless the program is highly impacted.

Impacted campuses/majors: https://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/ImpactedProgramsMatrix.pdf
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Based on your posted stats, your EI is 3750 which can be competitive for all but the following CSU’s: Cal Poly SLO, CSU Long Beach, San Diego State, Cal Poly Pomona (impacted majors), CSU Fullerton (Nursing/Engineering and Business).
For SJSU, Physics only needed a 2900 EI last year for an acceptance so you look like a Match for that school. I would try to select a major other than Undeclared (which can be just as as competitive as many of the STEM majors) at the other schools. Selecting Physics could get you into several of the CSU’s on your list so I would apply for Physics if that is your choice major.
I’ve been really stressed about college recently and you’ve helped so much thank you
You’ll get in for physics because the eligibility index is 2900, which I am sure you exceed. However, I do suggest to look at different CSUs. The department at SJSU has a shockingly bad reputation, at least because of the students’ experiences. However, it’s mostly from the lower division courses. A strong place for computational physics and astronomy, obviously. Faculty include degrees from Harvard, UCLA, UT Austin, etc. SJSU will have a renovated science building by June 2021 and there are not a lot of people in physics! IMO it’s what you make of it and you really just need a few professors to be on your side
Why not physics for the other CSUs? Apply to reach schools too!
