My chances for JHU, WashingtonU.....

Hi. This is my first post!
I live in Canada, but I'm a permanent resident of USA.....(am I still considered international???)

anyway... here are my stats so far...
SAT I:
800v 800m.. probably taking the new one as well.
SAT II:
Taking writing (just in case), chemistry or physics, math2c in jan... taking biology later also.
aiming for high or at least mid-700s..hopefully..:-( but i have no idea.....

High School Grades.. (in %)
well. i lived in New Zealand when I was in grade 9.... (with totally diffenrent grading system)so I omitted my stats for that.
Last yr (gr10):average 93.3
Mathematics 99
Religion 95 (I go to catholic school)
Business Studies 95
English 82 (errrr.i know.. but really a horrible, unfair teacher everyone hates)
Science 94
grade11 biology 99
Career/Civics 86/96
Canadian history 91

This year so far (gr11): mid-term average 97.7
Mathematics 96
Physics 100
Chemistry 96
I'll be taking other classes next semester.. I'm hoping to improve...since I couldn't really look after my grades when I just arrived in Canada last yr..

My school doesn't offer any AP courses.....but I'm hoping to self-study and take AP biology and chemistry exams..I'm taking all the hardest courses that the school offers though...
I really have weak ec's.....that's my biggest concern...
so far...I've done: school orchestra (violin), school choir, chapel choir, community orchestra, yearbook, student council, few clubs, librarian, peer tutoring, badminton team... (and I enjoy other sports..but I'm not in any teams), volunteer work in a hospital, and competitions for math and science...
I think I can get decent essays and recommendation letters...
My school doesn't rank students, but I'm pretty sure I'm in the top 5%. (out of about 200)
what do you think of my chances for JHU(ED), Washington U, and Georgetown? (Maybe a little stretch.. but Cornell??) I'm planning to go into biology/pre-med.

bump....... anyone???

I think you're on target. I would concentrate on doing well in the Writing SAT II - that might let you avoid the new one entirely. Study for it, though - the MC's are annoying. If you SAT II's are good, you would be a strong candidate at all the schools you mentioned (of course, since they are so competitive, you will need a couple of safeties).

If you know any physicians, you might see if you could shadow them this summer - it would be interesting for you, and add to your list of stuff for colleges.

great resume...now make sure you distinguish yourself from all the other great resumes these schools will get...the essence of that is why do you want to go to that school and why should they want you...good luck...

:D thank you for all your comments! You've all encouraged me!
