my chances for WPI

Hi my name is Raymond Lui, and Im a senior in a public exam school in Massachusetts. Im just wondering if I should apply for WPI because my gpa, and SATs scores are very low.

My GPA is a 3.0 (was slacking during 9th grade year but tried very hard from 10th grade-11th grade to pull it up).
Now senior year im working very hard to raise it even more

My SATs are horrible
Critical Reading 480
Math 640
Writing 500

Extracurricular: boys varsity volleyball, BLA red cross, YMCA, Music lessons (Chinese flute), City Auto School (Driving School), BostonTech

Awards: BU Engineering (Robotics)

Activities: BU Robotic Competition (BU Engineering), Intermediate Chess club

Courses: I took 3 Honors and 2 APs (Chem Honors, Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, Physics AP and Computer AP)

Community Service: YMCA Sports Instructor, BLA Red Cross, Girls Volleyball team

Skills: computer repair, Java, html, Cisco (networking), MOS

Others: Im fluent in English, Cantonese, 3 Years in French, alright with mandarin

I know I have no chance of getting into WPI but should i still apply i mean i have no chance at all

you are retaking the SAT's so not all is lost, might as well apply anyways, who knows, they might accept you, we all have our reaches

I strongly urge you to apply because WPI has a high acceptance rate. It is a good school, ranked 67 in the country, still not many apply there for one reason or another. So, apply and you may very well get in.

actually i have a 2.57 which is even lower then i expected??? now should i really give up? i mean i heard WPI has 94% acceptance rate for early action...

You can apply, but your odds of acceptance are quite low--probably no more than 25 to 30%. Still, there's a chance.

Have you had an interview yet?--Maybe you can convince an interviewer?

Here's one thing we heard at the local WPI presentation that you will like: If your Writing SAT score is higher than your Critical Reading SAT score, they will add your Math SAT score and your (higher) Writing SAT score so your total out of 1600 will look better. In your case, they will count your score as an 1140 rather than an 1120 (not much difference, but every little bit counts). I thought that seemed like a good policy.
