i think many of colleges will consider us as domestic applicant.....but not cornell i guess....cuz when I checked my app status, it says international applicant or something
which schools did you ask???
i also am going to stop thinking about colleges...heh just wait for the letters......
i go to a school in long island, NY how about you?

oh jeez, we are all international applicants, dont listen to these people. I have lived in the US for 2 years and i am classified as "international" sa i dont have a green card. Are you applying for financial aid ? if yes then you are considered international, if not you are not !

i'm not applying for fin. aid.....so i'm not int. then?

hey.. look..I talked to UPenn, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Northwestern, and Tufts admission officers who came to my school. I also asked Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Brown, and georgetown. They ALL said that I would compete against the domestic students, not students applying from abroad because I am in the U.S. school system and thus have similar opportunities..!

Of course, we are international/foreign because we aren't US citizens, but that doesn't mean our applications are read by someone who reads applications from abroad. Most schools read application by geographic regions.

Since you've only been here for two years, you might be in a different situation.. However, I am just stating what I have heard.

Please don't assume that other people's information is wrong only because you hear and see the word 'international' when you apply. Please do the research first or at least let us know kindly(and logically) if you think our posts contain false facts.

Thank you.

I think you are at disadvantage compared to domestic applicants.. For example, @ Williams, if you are counted as international, you face steep competition. If you are counted as domestic applicant, your verbal score lags behind 720 average. They prolly expect good math scores from us just b/c we are koreans =).

Admission officers say whenever they see students who speak different languages in home, they are alerted by their English proficiency. I didn't take Toefl, but i think 780 writing and 740 verbal score really helped me out getting acceptance from Williams. Taking Toefl might be very helpful if you can score above 285 (or AP exam score might help too).

Your ECs look fabulous (lot better than mine) along with all the other things. If admission officers aren't alerted by you SAT scores, you will have an excellent chance.

thanks.....I am worried about just that verbal score....but i'm sure they won't reject me just because of that one number....at least that's what I believe....and my writing score isn't that bad....it's just that stupid verbal...i cannot seem to go any higher..

oh ic.. btw, if you are not applying for financial aid, you are domestic applicant anywhere. it's actually easier to get in Flagship univs such as UMichgan Uvirginia, UCberkeley if you are full paying international. GOOD LUCK!!!

i'm not applying to any flagship univs......i should've done some..
so no fin aid.....i am domestic?? where did you hear that??
i did not apply for fin aid....

its on their websites =) (Dartmouth, Stanford, Duke, PENN, Brown, Cornell). UMichigan is still not late. I would strongly recommend you apply there. It is an excellent match, and is a greatt school. Best of luck to you!!!

bumpppp~~~

do not worry.
I think you will be a good candidate for every school you apply to.
Like you, I came to the U.S. five years ago, and I applied to Middlebury(frankly, nobody knows Middlebury, and that upsets me) with the similar SAT I score and got in ( but i applied early)
About whether you are considered as a domestic student... I guess you will be considered a a domestic student, but if you need financial aid - i mean if you need a lot- you will be facing steeper competition because there arent many schools that offer need-blind financial aid to international students. Therefore, unless you are applying to HYP, MIT, Williams, Middlebury, you will face steeper competition. However, if you can afford 45K, you will be considered as a domestic student without any significant disadvantage.

thanks~~ I will not need any fin. aid.....at those schools.~~
thanks for your reply
