How heavy was your junior schedule and have you taken any APs? your extracurriculars look great but they are so diverse I can never tell whats your passion from them. This might be a reason for rejection. Focus your extracurriculars (make them follow your passion or a gateway to start changing things that you think must be changed). Use your essays to your favour, show why you took these extracurriculars, why you started a certain project, why you want to pursue your major.
Also, if you could provide a more detailed description of your schedule, courses, APs etc it would be easier. And your SAT is extremely high but both of these universities are going test-optional with SAT and ACT so I think that means they will focus more on APs, GPA, Courseload, etc.
TBH, if you focus your extracurriculars and write an essay that effectively illustrates your motives and passions, I think that you will have an extremely high chance of getting in. Good luck.
Looks good. Focus and you will make it (If possible, try to increase your course load reasonably to reflect that you can handle uni and apply to something better. Don’t get me wrong. Emory and CMU are great but I think that you have chances at better universities). Good luck.
CMU is pretty STEM-oriented and I am not sure you have shown a willingness or ability to tackle the toughest STEM classes yet. Yes you got 800 on SAT2 but haven’t done any AP’s in math or science yet.
@privatebanker I meant that he/she should focus their ECs and apply to an IVY also Emory ranks #147 worldwide (its good nationally but I think one should aim for the best their resume can get them) so trying to apply for an IVY alongside Emory will be better IMO
This is such erroneous thinking IMO. People should apply to the best fit for them socially, academically, and financially. Prestige for the sake of prestige can lead to a poor fit and poor results. Especially when we are talking about schools that are already very high caliber.
