Okay so im currently a sophomore in HS and I'm wondering if my grades are adequate enough to attend the fine institution of Washington U (Pre-med that is).

So I have a 3.94 GPA
I only have 3 B's which were all +'s.
and I'm going to take the ACT this april.
What do i need to score on it (ACT) to ensure a place at WU?
What kinds of extra-curriculars should i pursue?
Which school would be a better choice/easier to get into: MIzzou, SLU, DUKE, WashU, or UMKC?

What is the accpetance rate for the 6-year Dental School program at UMKC? Will i be able to get into that?
What would i have to do to get into that school?

you should post what ECs you currently have, what work experiences, and other related info. to give people a better idea. All you have posted right now are your grades, which are pretty much nothing to base your chances on since there are so many other factors.

Thanks Nate & ViggyRam! Has anyone here applied there before? How competitive is admissions? What kinds of EC’s should i participate in to beef up my resume?

Looking at the ACT scores I would say it’s relatively competetive to get in. You should be fine with the EC’s you’re in as long as you put a decent amount of time into them (not doing something twice with a group and saying you’re a part of it). It will depend on your grades, ACT or SAT, and your courseload in HS along with your EC’s.

Competitiveness: on that link I pasted, it says 22% are admitted.

Very important admission factors:

* Character/Personal Qualities
Class Rank
Application Essay
Extracurricular Activities
Recommendations
Rigor of secondary school record
Standardized Test Scores
Talent/Ability
Volunteer Work
Work Experience
Academic GPA

Considered:

* Alumni Relation
Interview
Racial/Ethnic Status
First generation college student
Level of Applicant’s Interest

“A note about the college’s admission requirements: Rigor of high school curriculum and academic performance, GPA, test scores, extracurricular activities, essay, recommendations very important.”-from collegeboard website.

So, yea, pretty competitive, but not unbelievable (ie.Ivy-type selectivity). Present yourself as a well-rounded individual.

Try posting this on the Chances thread. and get some good clinical experience. i hear pre-med at washu is pretty tough, good that you are already so motivated.
