I just finished my first semester at St. Bonaventure, and I'm thinking about transferring. It was a great school, and I meant great people, but it's not good for my major (History). I'm from New Jersey. I just finished up with a 3.33 gpa. My HS gpa was a 2.6, and I got an 1100 on my SAT's. I also am in the campus green party club, and Model U.N. What are my chances of getting into Ithaca, hofstra, rutgers, and UNH. Also, please make suggestions for other schools i should apply to. Thanks a lot.

You might want to have at least a year of grades before transfering to those schools. That way, your HS transcript will factor in less than it would currently. If you do stick it out until next fall, at least, and have 30+ transfer credits, you'll have a good shot at Hofstra and Ithaca. At Rutgers and UNH you would have a decent chance.

I'd also like to suggest that you look at Syracuse, since they require 30 transferable credits and you don't need a HS transcript or scores.

If I wait a full year though, wouldn't that mean I can't apply for schools in the fall, since many of the dealines are in March and April, before I get my final grades. Should I just go to St. Bonaventure in the fall next year, and then transfer for the second semester to Ithaca or somewhere else? I would probably only have 24 transferrable credits by the end of the year, so I might not be able to transfer to SU. But do you really think i have a chance of getting in if I get my gpa up to a 3.5 or a 3.6 (something I will definately do next semester). Also, what other schools should I look at if I get my GPA to a 3.6 at the college level? Also, do most of the schools im mentioning only require two semesters of a language for a history major?

bump, i have no idea what to do...
