Is it possible to put stuff about my doing 5K Run for charities anywhere? I don't really know if that's service or not.

Thanks soooo much!!

I have your UW GPA at about 3.15, although it would go up to 3.2 if you took out the 8th grade classes, would go up to 3.25 if your school doesn't count plus and minuses in the computation, and would be about 3.3 if you threw out freshman grades. Still, this is a long way from the 3.86 you listed as your UW GPA.

However, it appears every class you took was an honors course, so the Weighted GPA of 4.18 is pretty close (and useful for computation purposes).

Also, you say you are out-of-state, but you don't say for which school. I think your profile says you live in Mississippi, so I'll use that as your home state.

University of Texas - Austin (First Choice)--Reach (OOS)
University of Texas - Dallas--Safe Match
Texas Christian University--Match to Slight Reach
Southern Methodist University--Slight Reach
Baylor University--Match
Texas A&M--Slight Reach
Tulane University (Personal App.)--Reach

^our school does the UW GPA differently though, so it ends up being 3.86 UW
like in my school Honors is a +.5 and Honors Accelerated and AP are +1 on GPA from a 5.3 weighted scale.
Since our school is very competitive, my transcript will show up as a 3.86UW though

I live in Mississippi but go to school in TN.

But given that my GPA will show up as what I said (instead of what you put), do you think the results for the schools will be the same?

Thanks for your input =]

bump =]

10 characters

3.86 unweighted GPA out of 4, where 4.33 is an A+, 4 is an A, 3.67 is an A- etc?

That's impossible.

You don't have enough A's to achieve a 3.86 unweighted GPA.

Colleges and universities will calculate your grades using THEIR methods.

The merit of your weighted or unweighted GPA won't change no matter how you look at it. Your counselor will have to explain your school's grading system and GPA scale to the schools; and usually the GPA of the valedictorian will have to be reported too.
@Gaffe
From my understanding; it will be out of a 5.3. (So its like 3.86/5.3) or 4.18/5.3

I assumed his unweighted is out of 4.3 (A+) and weighted is out of 5.3 (A+).

Blah.

"Very Competitive Private School" is vague. I assume it is in the class of Phillips Exeter Academy. Either way your SAT 1 is low.

No way that it would be 4.18 out of 5.3. That's a solid A-/B+ average in my school which uses something pretty similar.

Sorry for not explaining the GPA system guys. I don't know how it's done in other schools, so I didn't think there was something "odd" about my GPA. Well, it's out of a total 5.3. Like, it's 3.86/5.3 UW and 4.18/5.3 W.

And Gaffe, what's the point of saying "your SAT 1 is low?" ... unless you're trying to say it's too low for Austin. Will you at least tell me the chances for each school instead of picking out things like you're angry or something (ie. "impossible" GPA or "low" SAT). I realize my SAT scores are low, which is why I kinda want some chances. I hope I didn't sound angry (I'm not). Thanks, though.

Thanks for your response noobcake. Btw, what I meant was... if my GPA were 3.86 and 4.18, instead of the "3.15" Calcruzer mentioned, will the chances he differ in any way? =]
If it helps any, our valedictorian's GPA is about 4.9W and it's a class of 93.

Enderkin, my unweighted numerical average is a solid B+. The letters I put next to my grades will actually show up as numbers on my transcript. I just converted everything to letters to make it easier for you guys.

By Very Competitive, I mean... top in our region academically.
Instead of marking remarks about my GPA, can I have some responses to my original question?

Thanks! =]
