My Chances : Please Respond

let me clarify a bit - I was obviously not referring to the need-aware colleges.

my question was, take some of the colleges which are need blind but offer only “limited” intl aid (Cornell, Duke etc). Assuming he gets into Cornell, he stands a very good chance of getting a generous aid package does’nt he??

Duke says that if you don’t ask for aid you are compared with the domestic students, but if you ask for aid - you are in an extremely competitive pool of international students from more than 60 countries.

Cornell (for Indians) - its tough to get in, but if you are in you don’t need to worry about finances…

it depends from university to university… even if they are need aware and provide generous packages

strictly speaking Duke is harder to get into then Cornell - as far as I know…

one more point - students who ask 80%+ aid packages - does their visa chances get affected??

i don think so

if the uni doesn’t have any problem y wil the visa officers poke their nose

As long as your finances can prove that you have enough to stay there and come back, you’ll be fine.

As long as your finances can prove that you have enough to stay there and come back, you’ll be fine.

one damn sec - “enough to stay there and come back” means??

cost of the plane tickets as I understood it…

Don’t people already know how much FA they get by the time they apply for visa?
So, what you have to show is that you have enough funds for tuition and living expenses. Isn’t it? I don’t understand why US embassy cares if 80% of your funds are from FA.

Total cost of attendance + living + flights - (financial aid received).
