What do you think my chances are?
I’m white, Catholic, and from Georgia.

Class Rank- My school doesn’t give them, but I’m pretty sure top 15% AT LEAST. Maybe top 10%.
After graduation, I will have taken 9 APs (Calculs BC, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics, US History, English Language, English Literature, Spanish, Spanish Literature) and 8 honors classes (English I, English II, Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, Biology, Chemistry).

I was a counselor at Sewanee tennis camp.

I attend a prestigious school, Baylor School. It’s very prestigious in the south. It’s also very competitive, especially my grade.

I want to major in political science and then go to law school or journalism grad school.

You seem confident that you will get in seeing as you use the words "competitive" and "prestigious" a lot. Your GPA is a bit low, try work to bring it up.

But seriously, I'm sick of people asking "What are my chances?" We are not the admission commitee. And who knows, maybe your essays will be the deciding factor. In my opinion, it's too early for you to worry. Focus on your grades instead.

I use this scale for giving a chance.
1 = Low end of that category
5 = High end of that category
REACH (1-5)
MAYBE (1-5)
GOOD BET (1-5)
THis is utilizing all your leadership/ acitivies / scores etc...

Using the 3.75 Unweighted and 3.84 weighted GPA and the Top 10%... you would have a
Maybe (3)

WIth the top 15% it would be a
Maybe (1)

For Brown in particular, if you have any special talents or abilities, that maybe give you a boost and also the better your essays - that might give you a boost.

So my end statment to you would be: keep high hopes, but in all reality, I think that the best possible decision you will get from Brown is:

WAITLISTED.

Prove me wrong. :)

God, I wrote all that for a junior. I thought you were a senior my bad. In that case...use what I wrote to help you better your app. You are on a good track, but fix that GPA and try to bring that 680 up.

3.75 is low. Geez..I have a 3.4 right now, and I am trying to pull it up. Sadly I am considering Brown. I would love to go there, but I have been seeing guys on this website thrash 3.75s and it makes me feel terrible.

YAY, georgia! I think your gpa is fine considering the competitveness of your school and the fact that you've taken hard classes (I've heard of Baylor...eek!). So definately apply, I think you'll have a shot especially if you can boost up that SAT to a 2250+ (which is quite possible...i went from a 1980 to a 2180 in like 3 months w/no prep). GOOD LUCK fellow georgian!

I dunno. But to me it would seem the SAT score would show the GPA isn't too accurate? I think 2150 is great for first time with prep (assuming you'll prep for the next time). I was 2170 with a 3.96. The APs are quite a lot (hopefully you're testing?). Though the 15% is really low, though that's because it's dependent on GPA. I'd agree with the waitlist though.

When did you go on the People to People trip, because I went to D.C. for a week when I was in 7th grade, and I have been invited to go all around the world but it is very expensive, so I havn't gone since then.

I went on a trip to Australia the summer before 8th grade. However, my trip was for tennis. But you should go, I had to raise money--they are expensive--but it was worth it. I had a blast!

Well, now I'm trying to save up for Harvards SSP program next summer, and that's even more expensive than my trip was, and it's probably around what yours cost.
