I would really REALLY love to attend UCLA, but right now I think it'd be hard for me to get in. Anyone have any tips on how to raise my chances for UCLA?

I agree with kolorn. Almost all of those schools are reaches. It's fine to apply to those schools, but you might want to add some more schools to your list that would be matches or safeties. Look up a school's common data set and see if your SAT/class rank are in the middle 50%. This will by no means be a sure sign as to whether or not you will gain admission to these schools, but it is a good place to start when finding schools that are good matches for your stats.

Another thing: the UCs place a very big emphasis on GPA and class rank. So if you want to improve your chances at UCLA, work really hard at improving your GPA and getting into the top 10% of your class.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm gonna try my best to get a 4.0 uw next semester, which shouldn't be too difficult. I'm taking 5 APs, but half of them aren't really even considered AP @ my school: Psych, French, and English Lit.

Would scoring high on the ACT help? What do you guys think the minimum score I would have to get to get into UCLA would be?

I'm definitely going to apply to all the UCs to give myself a broader selection of choices (hopefully!). That list just contains all the schools I'd REALLY love to attend. I'm going to try my best to get in.
