So just a few hours ago, I was locked in on going to Xavier University in Cincinnati. I had already found a room mate/paid my deposit. Just a few hours ago however, I received my acceptance email from Purdue University.
Now I’m stuck!
For those who don’t know, Xavier is a small (4000 undergraduates) Jesuit private school with no greek life and a small campus.
Anyways I’m stuck because I REALLY like the small community feel of Xavier.
Anyways, I just don’t know whether Purdue is the right fit for me…
If I went to Purdue, I wouldn’t plan on joining Greek life, and I don’t drink either. I’m an introvert at first but I become an extrovert once you get to know me. I also like the idea of Purdue because my dad taught there, and we used to live in West Lafayette.
Also, I plan on studying Computer Information System (or Cyber-security)
Any advice?
Go with the schools that fits you and your personality, which seems to me like you are more of a Xavier type of guy. But make sure it really does fit you and your major the best. (Which from what I am getting from you it does better than Purdue)
Can your family afford both?
Purdue will be cheaper for me in the long run, although I have two years at either school for free. The difference isn’t huge though because Xavier gave me 14,000 a year plus I have a 1,500 per year scholarship from my employer. I would like to get out with less debt, but It cost is not one of the big factors for me.
Sounds like you really want to attend XU. I would just look at each school’s class listings for their Cyber track and see which one is more rigorous or has more available. If they look about the same then great.
Short and sweet, based on what you said: Go to Xavier. You are your own person, and go with what you feel
