My College Fate Rests in the Balance! Help!

I am a student very interested in applying to Top 20 schools. I really enjoy rigor in my schedule and want to take 6 APs (max allowed at our school). However, I have also been admitted to an internship program for the second semester of the school year that only allows me take 4 AP classes and I do not get to take AP Calc BC. I am forced to take AP Calc AB, something I don't want to do.

Would colleges like for me to have more class rigor or do an internship at a news organization? I'm currently leaning towards the former.

Honestly, to me it sounds like 4 APs is rigorous enough. But I was thinking about doing an internship at my school this year, which would mean I wouldn’t be able to take all 5 academic subjects my senior year and when I contacted someone at NYU (my top choice) to ask about it, they essentially told me to skip the internship and go with the academic classes. But I’m sure the internship is good experience and colleges probably want to see that too, so it’s up to you.
